I have a BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice, and have been an EMT for 8 years. I decided to move up in the medical/healthcare ladder. I applied to both ADN and BSN programs, and took the first one that accepted me. I was accepted into an ADN program, and graduated back in May 2009. I've been looking actively for 1 FULL year + another month. I just now been offered a job in the ED. I'm from the Bay Area in California. Let me tell you, finding ANY new grad programs or RN I in California is like a needle in a haystack. Best of luck.
