I visited the site about the Visa Screen Certificate and it is indicated there that it is TOEFL that we have to take, why is it in other sites, it is said that it is IELTS? Which one is correct?

Thanks!!!

Please visit http://www.cgfns.org and download the handbook for the Visa Screen Certification. Everything you need to know can be found there.

Both TOEFL and IELTS are accepted. Pls. refer to the official handbook from CGFNS.

If you read page 3 of the VSC handbook it tells you exactly what is accepted for English exam http://www.cgfns.org/files/pdf/apps/2008%20VS%20Handbook.pdf

I would suggest to not even look into applying for the Visa Screen Certification yet until you passed both the NCLEX-RN exam and the English Proficiency exam of your choice.

Seeing that you just got your eligibility letter from CA BRN, I would suggest to concentrate on passing the NCLEX first then doing the IELTS next and then when you passed both - that is where you apply for the Visa Screen Certification.

The visa screen process only allows 1 year for you to submit proof of passing both NCLEX and the English exam once you submitted the VSC application to CGFNS and many are not able to pass both within 1 year.

FYI: The IELTS (the academic module is what is needed for nurses) has always been the choice since it is anectodally easier than TOEFL if you have a choice between the two, w/c in your case you have since CA BRN does not require an English Prof. exam unlike some State BON w/c has English Prof. exam requirements just to get an eligibility to sit for the NCLEX and only accepts TOEFL.

so can i take either IELTS or TOEFL for the VSC? others say that it is easier to pass the IELTS, but no matter how easy it is, if TOEFL is what I need for the VSC, I must take the IELTS...

your reply is greatly appreciated...:p
