Hi, we are taking Graduate nurses directly into our ICU next year, so that I don't have to reinvent the wheel, Is there anyone willing to share their ICU graduate nurse program, hope I'm not being to forward, but any sort of support on where to start would be great. Thanks Vic:yeah:

I'm not sure what you mean by "share their graduate program"...?
I did an ICU rotation as a grad nurse, and ended up staying in ICU. When I started, I was paired with another nurse, and had to do modules about arterial lines, ventilators, blood gases, CVCs, etc etc. Then progressed to having one stable non-ventilated patient, 2 non-ventilated patients, to one stable vented patient, then increasing acuity of patients. I always had a preceptor on each shift to ask for help.

I would be keen to hear about which hospitals around the country offer direct entry to ICU. I don't know of many.

There are a few Royal Brisbane does
Plus Queensland has now got an online transition program that will give you 50% off of a Grad Cert in ICU
