I'm an lvn and I passed fundamentals in nursing for the entrance exam but not the pharmacology... I'm sure with your b.s in Biology you'll be able to transfer a lot of credits so that will help you a lot!…

Yes I took the placement test I guess it's not called entrance exam LOL ... passed fundamentals but not pharmacology

what was that pharmacology like? Common meds?

What is EAQS? It's probably a slow question ? Can you send a pic of whatever it is? And I think I can knock those assignments outs too just gotta stay on track. I will try to link with as many Cali people as I can for help once I get in. I have some family in Florida so hopefully thats helpful with this stuff smh

EAQ are adaptive quizzes we do for each chapter.

Pharmacology is rough. Alot of dosage calculations and trying to remember all the meds being taught.

Do they give you anything to go off of for Pharmacology when you are entering the program?

Specializes in LVN.

There were some basic dosage calculations on the test, a few common drugs like cardio drugs ect... before the test I brushed up on my dosage calculations and looked up pharmacology on you tube and studied that way but I still failed LOL..... are you referring to the placement test before enrolling ?

Some LVNs in my class did HESI practice test since we use HESI at this school.

For the class you will do dosage calc. Plenty of it, learn the meds for the different body systems and illnesses and do drug cards. Get use to the drug classes. There is no clinical for Pharm if LVN and only taking that. Those in Fundamentals and Pharmacology will have Fundamentals clinical for 10 days to be done by the end of the semester unless school announces otherwise.

What do you mean?

If you are LVN trying to take the Fundamentals and Pharmacology Advanced Placement, exams are by HESI. They go strictly off your knowledge as a LVN. No materials to study.

For Pharmacology Class, You have your textbook and coursework. EAQs are a part of your course work.

@MrsDean2022 Yes, they also told me I need to retake it here. I am in my 40s and doing it all over again it's not right. I am glad they will accept it. crossing my fingers

I feel you.  I am 50 so I am definitely not going to repeat all those courses just to get in a program.

yes this school is my last chance. I did alot of my pre reqs through Straighterline I'm just working on the labs. I'm in my forties ( not that age really matters) but two of my kids are grown so I have more time on my hands so now is the time to do it. I feel like if I let too much times pass then I won't do it. @MrsDean2022 how do you like it so far?..how far are you in the program?...sorry you may have answered this already but some of the comments are lost within other comments. I appreciate your help!

Sweet. I'm 50 and it is hard. They definitely do not make it easy to get through. You can choose to do the fulltime 2 classes a semester or extend your time by doing 1 class a semester.

I retook Pharm and now retaking Med Surg 1 due to a horrible exam in which we no longer have the professor who was supposedly writing them.  I switched to 1 class at a time because 2 is stressful but many are managing it. I rather focus on one subject then move on.

Still quite unorganized and always changing at the spur of the moment but doable as a last resort  which is what it was for me.

OK great thanks!....are the classes hard as far as difficulty with comprehension?...or mainly somewhat easy but just the class is hard due to the volume of work?

you can email me it might be easier. I appreciate your help.

@dgonzales Hi dear, is there any other school like ICHS that offers RN hybrid in closer states like AZ, NV...?

Specializes in LVN.

Hi , yes nightingale ...

I just didn't choose nightingale because I know a couple lvns that went and ended up dropping because the workload was insane and they couldn't work at the same time ... also the school wouldn't accept my old classes and it would've cost me a bit over $50k or so... it's a BSN too so it's longer than ICHS...

@dgonzales Thank you! Hopefully we can start this program together.

@dgonzales do you have to take foundemtantal of nursing?
