ICHS 2022

Updated:   Published

Hello! Is there anybody who will be attending International College of Health Sciences (ICHS) in Florida in 2022?

Has anybody completed this program?  I am curious what the capstone is.  I am concerned about the clinical rotations too.  I heard from current students that sometimes they feel it's a waste to make the trip to Florida because a lot of the times, clinical are cancelled.  I would be fuming to waste all that money on a flight, hotel, food, transportation just for clinical to be cancelled.  I know they would probably make us go to campus and complete skills competency (simulation lab).  I personally would prefer clinical excursions because you can do that from a computer.  We had those in our LVN program when clinicals were cancelled. At that time, there really was no doing this at home.  We had to go to school to complete them there on computer.  What is your take on the clinical rotations and how long are you there for each rotation.

Yes I'm heading into Capstone. It's a lot of work, but doable. I had to stop working to be able to focus on school. It's expensive but cheaper than a California school with no waiting list.
good luck to you.

Do you have any idea what the capstone is like? I am on a budget and the clinicals in Florida are going to kill me.  I know I need to save, but you know how it goes, as soon as you save money, your car breaks down, or your kid needs money for a school trip, the water pipes burst etc etc.  I am in the Bay Area and I am also looking into Samuel Merritt ABSN program but that is a ways to go.  ICHS is really the only way to go because I can get in quickly but I'm stuck doing pharmacology if I'm going to start in February.  I"m stressing over this school, not because I do not think I can do it, but because of the financing options.  Do you remember how long you stayed in Florida for each clinical rotation?  If you are from Florida I know it doesn't matter much, but for those of us who are coming from out of state it means so much as we are counting every penny we have.  Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Hi. I plan on signing up for the February cohort too, but I'm in the same boat as you! I have mixed feelings about this school since I've heard how disorganized they are. But I really need a hybrid LVN to ADN program and it's unfortunate California does not offer this option. I do have a friend who just finished at ICHS and she says they've been doing their clinicals at the end of the program due to COVID. But it was also convoluted because everybody was trying to complete their clinical hours, and there were no available days when they signed up for it. The admissions advisor did say 50% of clinicals will be completed online: VSIMs. I may just bite the bullet and go for it. But not 100% yet. ?

Is this still true?  Are clinicals being completed 50% online from home?  Or do you still have to do them but at the campus?

Online clinical was only during the height of Covid and I believe was discontinued in the end of 2022.
we have clinical every semester now. It ranges between 10-17 days. They have been changing requirements so I can't tell you how many days you will have to do by the time you enroll.
good luck.
I started in pharmacology because I tested out of fundamentals. I heard fundamentals has a 10 day clinical requirement. Medsurg 1/ Psych I believe it was 13 days and Medsurg 2/ OB is 16 days. Capstone is 17 days and then residency week is 7 days.
my tuition because I had completed all my prerequisites is about $33k. Every time you go out to Florida expect to spend about at least $2k in arrangements.
Hope this helps. I'm from SF Bay Area as well and I waited to get into raffle RN programs until all my prerequisites expired  and I was never chosen. This school was my one chance.

Hello,

do you know if the school is flexible with clinicals as far as time out there? For example if I can only stay for 7days out there versus 17? Are they flexible with that?….. also do you think it's possible to work fulltime while completing this program?  I'm finishing up some classes through straighterline and plan on goin Feb start date... I'm from Roseville Ca

They are flexible but there's no guarantee that you will get the exact days that you want and also take into consideration that they do dayshift and PM shift clinical it doesn't matter if you had a morning shift the day before they may give you a PM shift and then give you an a.m. shift the next day you'll have hardly any sleep and you have to complete an eight page care plan that night, as well as maintain the two classes you're enrolled in even though clinicals will occupy all your time. Some students do work as for me I was not able to because of the workload required with reading and assignments every week. It just depends on how organized you are and how committed you are to completing this program I believe it is possible. I borrowed against my house to pay for my living expenses and tuition because I knew that if I worked, I was going to fail because of all of my responsibilities with my toddler, commute and family. It is completely up to you. I personally say if you are going to be working full-time during this program, you should probably only take one class at a time. It will take you longer to complete the (RN) program but I believe it's more feasible this way just my opinion, there are a lot of students who do work full-time.

Hi Everyone,

I'm from CA LA area and I will be starting at ICHS this Feb 2022. Is anyone taking micro and college algebra before taking their nursing core classes?

I been doing so much research about this school, I have a mix feeling and hesitant! but I need to get this over and done with... this is the only school that will allow me to still have a job while pursuing to be a nurse.

Did you all have to deposit some money before start date?

UPDATE: I am officially in Capstone Theory 10/2/23-01/03/23. I plan on doing clinicals right after midterm (11/15/23) because there is a huge gap before the final exam (01/3/2024). Exit week for me is Jan8-14.  Those of you who plan on going. About 90% pass everything. I wouldn't be so nervous about going. It is best to go right after finishing your final exams after each theory course has ended. Some students failed trying to do both theory and clinicals at the same time. It is best to form a group prior to going. I learned being by yourself you will encounter weirdos outside of your Airbnb so find a Coed group. If you are by yourself you will probably end up falling asleep before turning in your assignment which can count as a missed clinical. It happened to one of my classmates that came alone. My group was on top of each other's butts making sure all of us had a ride, making sure we all submitted our assignment, and sharing important and knowledgeable information which made it easier on all of us. None of us were picky when it came to finding a place and privacy. We were all considerate and mindful. A few people I talked to were paying around 2200$ alone. I've only been paying max 700$ including food and transportation each time I go because I had a group of 4 and 5. My last clinicals I made a group of 7 with one still pending. While a lot of us like having privacy, I believe having a group was wayyy more beneficial.  Good luck to you all. I personally, believe my group contributed to me passing my courses. Those of you incoming to ICHS, no school is perfect but I assure you if you work as a team you will definitely pass.

How long did you have to stay each time for clinicals?  How long were the clinicals if you went every 3 months.  Do you finish theory and then do clinical?  Thank you

Wonderful info thanks so much... I'm still deciding between Premier International and ICHS ... waiting on FA to get in touch with me this week from Premier my decision will be based off of what aid I can get from premiere. If my in school payment is too high at premiere then I plan on choosing ICHS since it's $1,000 monthly payment... I am almost maxed out of my federal aid d/t lvn school. So we'll see. Thanks for the info I'm soaking in all the advice and tips from everyone.

First time I stayed was May 29- June 11 or 12? I was there 13 days for clinical. one day of arrival and one day of flying out. Totaling 15 days. I just came back Sep 30. I stayed 12 clinical days. from Sept18-30 plus arrival plus flying out totaling 14 days. My next clinical will be Nov. 27-Dec 15 Clinical days. I will fly in one day before and fly out so that is going to be 19 days total and that's if you don't miss clinicals and you get everything back to back. There are no Sunday Clinicals. I normally would finish Theory classes first then go. For example if the final exam is Wednesday I would fly out on Sunday at like 5am and be there Sunday by 4pm in Florida and be in clinical Monday morning or Monday afternoon whichever clinical time I was scheduled for. FYI sometimes they give you nights. Sometimes your clinicals are at the school which were my favorite. If you go every three months it just depends on how many days you book. NonLVN are go more.

I am an LVN and didn't have to fly out for fundamentals. My curriculum for LVN was 13 days the first time, 12 days the second time, and 17 days the third time. Then I fly one last time for a week for residency week.
