I want to be a Nurse so Bad.

Published

Hi everyone,

I am currently enrolled at 4 year college that only offers the ADN. However when i 1st enrolled, nursing was not my major and I wasn't the best student. I dabbled in 2 majors completing some requirements which I would later come to find out would be crucial to getting into the nursing program. I got C's in my science courses and an A in math. My school is extremely competitive for the nursing program. To help my situation, being that i've taken so many classes; i've switched to a liberal arts degree with 1 more semester left to complete with the intent on raising my Gpa.

My questions are:

1. Do I complete the Liberal Arts degree 1st then attempt to enter nursing school? and will that 2 year degree count towards a BSN, meaning that i might only have to take nursing classes now since i've obtained a 2 yr liberal arts degree? (after all, the 1st 2 years of a bsn are liberal arts courses right)

1a. Do i apply for the nursing program again in my current school BEFORE completing my liberal arts degree?

2. Should I just go find an LPN program and start there?

Sorry if this post is a bit long im just not sure which way to go. I look forward to any advice you may offer. Thanks A bunch!

This situation sounds like it's very specific to your set of circumstances. I think it may hinge on your BSN's program requirements and exactly what classes you've taken for the 2-year degree. This would be an excellent time to utilize an advisor at the college you're at. Write out all of your questions similar to how you've done above and go in there prepared to be a huge part of the advising appointment and become educated on how all the working parts go together to get to your ultimate goal.

Good luck!
