So I decided that I am sick of the way I look and being depressed about it and then not doing anything to change. I do have a gym membership and for cryin' out loud its open 24 hours a day but I never go. So my question is, is there anyone that gets up really early before their shift starts at 7am and goes to the gym? I work 12hour shifts and rotate days to nights every two months.

When I worked 12 hour rotating shifts, I worked out at different times.
If I worked days (5am to 5pm), I would go to the health club immediately after work. If I worked nights (5pm to 5am), I would work out at the health club during the late afternoon hours before my shift began, usually around 3 o'clock.

I'm gonna have to attempt going after work tomorrow. Sometimes I just can't bring myself to do it on the days that I work because I don't want to lose any sleep having to stay up later when I'm exhausted. I wouldn't really want to get up at 4am just to work out. Maybe if I just workout for an hour on the days I'm off then it will make up for what I don't do when I'm working? I am going to weightwatchers on monday and signing up.

I started lap swimming a few months ago. Sadly this means I get up at 5.30 on my days off. As I only work early shifts this means I dont get to sleep in and this is becoming an issue. BUT I do feel better for it when I swim so I remind myself (really loudly as the alarm goes off) that this is worth it - helps my nurse's back stay strong.
When I worked permanent night duty I used to go to the gym on my way home from work. Was OK but I couldnt lift any where near as much weight as when I went on my days off.
