Moving to General Nursing Discussion for more exposure and hopefully, help for you. Welcome to allnurses.com.

come work in the or! one patient at a time, limited time with families, quiet atmosphere, flexible shifts...ever thought about it?

Specializes in pediatric ER.

Try a smaller hospital. I know of a few in the DC area as I recently moved here and interviewed with quite a few hospitals on the VA side of things, so if you want to work in VA, send me a personal message and I may be able to help you out. But, working at a smaller, more community based hospital is a little slower paced and the pts usually aren't as sick.

Best of luck!!

Specializes in Pediatrics Only.

I work pediatric home health. It still allows you to use your skills (G-button feedings, trach care & trach changes), but its one on one and I love it!

Makes me feel like i am making a difference in these kids lives..even if they are close to the end and I am just making them as comfortable as possible..

I pick which days I want to work, and I choose 10 hr shifts. Most of the times I get what I want :)

With your renal transplant experience, ever thought about working with dialysis patients? A couple of our nurses have left our transplant floor to work at dialysis centers....one of them opened a new center and is running it. Just a thought. Do you have a transplant center at your facility? We have a do, it's separate from our transplant floors.

We do have a dialysis center on a different floor...however, positions never become available. Nurses wont leave until they leave this earth :lol2: . I had considered dialysis with Davita. I don't know what dialysis nurses are paid. I know money isn't everything, but it is necessary!
