I just want to be an ER Specialist Nurse or trauma care Specialist(whatever they call it) please help me im a fresh grad nurse currently working on my license exam in the philippines and i want to know how can i be an ER Specialist Nurse or trauma care Specialist...coz i love to work in the ER and now i would like to apply an MSN in the states and after that would try to do specialty( i know i have to take NCLEX...do i?) after i pass the philippine nursing licensure exam...please can you give more helpful information......:bowingpur

Specializes in Trauma/ED.

You need to take your NCLEX to get your license. Then I would look for a new grad intern position in an ED you are interested in. While applying work on getting your ACLS and PALS certificates. Sometimes it can be difficult to get intern positions without knowing someone or already being an employee in the hospital system (ie. as a CNA), so be patient and possibly get another job while you are looking.

Good luck,

Larry

Specializes in Emergency!.

You are able to specialize in emergency medicine here in the states. There is something called a CEN or certified emergency nurse that you can earn (not sure how yet cause I'm still in school). But definitely try out emergency nursing first, some people do find it a little overwhelming, but if you love that type of situation you'll do great. Good luck on passing your exams in the Philippines and here when you come!

Specializes in Emergency Only.

Too bad that the only way to become a specialist in any area is experience. (Time and self education, or putting self through timely Education)

Plus, The Emergency Specialist requires experience of those arriving as of dead, to arrival as of yet to be born, and beyond... This means essentially... "knowing everything".

It is a ED specialty of knowing Everything IMPORTANT
