I want to become a CRNA

Im going to school January 7 at PIMA to become a Radiographer . I want to go back to school shortly after to be a CRNA . Can I get some insight on what the process will be like and what programs to do ? Thanks

Well, first I think you are going to school to become a radiography technologist right? A CRNA is a nurse so these are two different careers. In order to become a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) you must first become an RN (registered nurse), then work in an ICU for a few years, then apply to CRNA school, get accepted and complete the course of study and pass that certification exam.

Wish you luck but if you want to go the CRNA route, I would encourage you to get your RN (BSN) first.

Becoming a radiographer will add a year to education needed for CRNA and not be transferable to nursing education requirements. You will need to obtain a Bachelors in Nursing degree, pass NCLEX RN license exam + minimum of 1 yr RN ICU experience in order to apply for CRNA program.

A Registered nurse program is where to start. Anything else will just add to the length of your goal.

Radiography and nursing share some of the same prerequisites and core classes so all is not lost. I just looked up your school and it does offer a nursing program. Drop your radiography major, take all the nursing pre-reqs, excel in these and you won't have a problem getting into the RN program. You will need a BSN down the road but there are many options for that later on. Do what you can right now to get into a nursing program and get the best grades possible. Good luck.
