The people who have kids, bills, and a family to support are WAY committed, that is why they can manage such a crazy life.

You don't have any of that, so you don't feel the pressure to get a good career. Very understandable, Being in your 20 is supposed to be full of friends and fun, not building your future foundation. But it is!

We cannot give you the motivation and drive that you will need in any school, especially nursing school. But we can tell you that while you have no distractions from school, except yourself, you should dig deep inside yourself and find that motivation, because you don't want to have to be married, with kids and a stack of bills AND going back to school, it can be done, but not if you are not committed to it.

I wish you the best of luck!!!!!

You know, I reread my post this morning and I owe you an apology. I was in a bad mood, apparently, and took it out on you. Please accept my apology.

The issue I brought up will take care of itself as you proceed through college. Whatever you decide to do, good luck and keep us posted.

Sure apology accepted. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Being from Brooklyn is not an an excuse. Also, I didn't think your post was THAT bad. I have seen worse.

Anyway, I wanted to give you some other programs (LPN and RN) to look into.

This is an LPN program. It is too late to apply for the '08-'09 year but you can look into it for next year. It is tuition free. You just pay for uniforms, CPR, etc:

This link has both LPN and BSN programs at two city hopitals. I believe you have to meet income requirements. I also think it is too late to apply for this year.

There are also private schools in NYC and New Jersey, but tuition may be high. Monroe college has a Certificate PN program. I don't know what the tuition fee is.

Thank you so much. I have to dig deep and learn to trust God.

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you, i am going to see if i can get accepted into the RN program at my previous college that i attended. I have wasted a whole academic year trying to get into the lpn program. Now i am at the point of where i going to give it my all to be a RN. I know in my heart that is my calling. i have to be committed. Thats something i need to learn a soon as possible. I refuse to give up.

Why don't you find work as a nursing assistant first. Doesn't pay THAT great, of course, but you'll get some experience on a hospital floor, you'll get to pick up valueable skills you'll need as a nurse, you'll get to know some nurses, perhaps gain some references, etc. and you'll truly see whether or not you even want to BE in healthcare, much less a nurse.

I went for my BSN and did fine, but I regret not having any prior experience first. It's been a rough uphill climb for me as a new nurse -- wish I'd been a tech for about a year FIRST.

Then you'll be making some money while exploring the career. You're only 20, so you've got LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of time on your side!

But, be the best CNS you can be. Show them you want to work hard and want to learn -- get along with the nurses and have a good attitude. Then make a few friends and they will give you help and hints on how to get into the schools you want. Let them know YOu want to be a nurse someday, and they will take you along and teach you things you'll use later. It's all about attitude. Meanwhile, you can take some classes on the side, improve your writing skills as well -- and start earning your BSN. Or, maybe get the RN and do a bridge program to BSN. Don't expect it all at once -- it takes a lot of hard work and persistence to earn any college degree. But you're young and have time.

Just my suggestions.

Thank you

I think you can do anything your heart desires, if you put your head to it. Just think if you get into a nursing program and work very hard for the next 2-4 yrs , you will be able to have a decent income to play all you want later. Nursing provides stabilty and a decent paycheck especially if you are single.

A bit of advise though regarding your 1st post, I would at least write using proper punctuation, as OP said I have seen far worse with reguards to the grammar. I find myself trying to shorten post (bad habit from texting) but realize that not all people on AN would understand it. Not to mention we do not know each other and all a person on here has to go by is your writing, and we all want to give good impressions of ourselves. I will save the abbriviations for my phone.
