I could use a Pep Talk

Hello,

I'm 4 classes away from applying to nursing school. I recently had a baby, who is 11 months old now. I took my other pre-reqs before he was born. I also work Full+ time. I don't want to change jobs right now because I make pretty decent money which is able to cover current school costs.

I start A&P in two weeks. I started trying to read last night and get into a routine. The baby didn't go to sleep until about 9:30, my husband wasn't much help in that dept because he's a firefighter and has a drivers test coming up in a week. I started reading at about 10pm and was so exhausted I could only read for about 45 minutes.

I'm so scared about falling apart and not being able to do this with my dignity in tact.

Any advice, encouraging words or other moms like me with some feedback would be awesome right now.

Reading your post I thought it was something I had written. I have a six month old and also 4 classes to go before applying to NS. I'm taking A&P 1 and public speaking starting sept 4 and I too am scared. But I'm refraining from reading too much right now, I don't want to psych myself out. Just enjoy the rest of your summer and feel free to PM me any time you want...

We can do it!!!!

Specializes in ICU, PICC Nurse, Nursing Supervisor.

i am a mom of 6 including a new baby girl who is 6 months old. you will learn how to do 10 things at once and you just have to throw studying in there. i also go to school full time as does my husband . i work full time and we have no daycare services... i think you should look into a mothers day out program or maybe seeing about day care a couple of days a week.. it can save your sanity. you also need to be very organized and have your stuff ready to study at any minute.. you find the baby asleep on the couch grab your book and get after it. make flashcards or even a audio tape for the car. a & p is very intensive you have to keep up on your studying or you will get behind. when i was doing a & p my daughter was 1.5 and i taught her anatomy class and she had to be the only toddler in tarrant county that knew where the medulla oblongata was...you have to adjust your time to make it happen and it wouldn't hurt for hubby to take the baby for several hours so you can go to the library and study....
