Hi,
i have a friend who is coming over here to the hospital i am working in, and she has just been told by her Lawyer that they cant move froward until retrogression sorts itself out and that will be after the elections (which are november 2008) does anyone know whether this is right or if this true or not?

Not heard that one Sue. My lawyer has said they will keep my DS230 ready for as soon as things move forward with visas and they have not mentioned anything about waiting until November 08

Another attorney that does not know things about immigration law. Getting very tired of this. Who is in power does not affect what visas are released each year, there are already set programs in place.
It is a well known fact that there are 140,000 visas available during a fiscal year for those under the EB-3 category. This is nothing new, and the new fiscal year starts in October. Suggest that your friend get a new attorney as soon as possible. We do expect that those from the PIC countries and Mexico will remain under the retrogression beyond when it is actually lifted due to the shear number of applicants from those countries.
Thanks Suzanne
You are quite welcome.
