I think nursing school is getting to me...

I was watching Law & Order tonight, and they were interviewing a big-shot physician. I noticed a cheap little Sprague stethoscope around his neck and couldn't help think that not many physicians would use one of those lol...

Oh, just you wait...that was only the beginning....some other things you will notice on TV is:

They never pull up the siderails on soap opera hospital patients.

They have those hospital green sheets on the beds (never seen 'em personally).

Sometimes, they are intubated AND have a nasal cannula. :chuckle

Thanks for the replies everyone, glad I'm not the only one, though a few weeks ago, I was watching a show where a guy was having some tests done, he asks the doc "am I gonna die?" and the doc says "lets cross that bridge when we get to it."

I looked at my wife and told her that wasn't proper therapeutic communication LOL...she looked at me like I was nuts. :chuckle

It's an occupational hazard. You will find yourself noticing the most amazing stuff. I tend to notice someone's veins, which is really quite sick, when you think about it.

My pet irritation with TV hospital scenes is when someone's there in bed, in a coma, or whatever, and there are no siderails.

But it's not confined to nurses. I have a friend who's a dentist. Larry says he couldn't stand it when he was in dental school, and instructors would stare at his mouth. He vowed he would never do it. Now? You guessed right...

LOL. . . It only gets worse. I happened to see part of an episode of "Dr. Vegas" the other night and thought I was going to have to claw my eyes out when they started doing CPR. I don't expect every tiny detail to be perfect but good grief! stop compressions before deciding that the patient is in Vfib!
