I know the written test should be easy.. I averaged 90's in the nursing assistant course in the written test. I have to do some practice because it's been a while. ^^;; Anyhow, I am a little concerned about the clinical skills....
Do I have to act like working with a real patient.. or do I have to talk to the person who is watching and explain what I need to do each step? Like, then I need to provide privacy, etc.
Also, do I have to tell her "I need to wash my hands" before I perform different skills? Because they are going to give some skills for me to do. I will try to relax! ^^
just make sure the resident is safe and privacy most important and yes you got to talk your way through like any other person you would be taking care of treating it like a real person, I took my at my junior college so I didnt need to get my skills validated at the testing center and even took my written exam at my college.
I have to always close the curtain when performing care, right?
pretty sure that I failed my clinical exam and I don't know the written part.
I dressed at the wrong side... Ha ha.. when I said "OK, I am going to start with your left weak side first." She raised her right side and I went for it.. I was slightly nervous. I know that itself is a failure. I got the easy skills too...
hand washing, pulse, and dressing. That's OK! I know what to do next. That's how I am at first.... ^^;;
Hello everyone!
I will be taking the CNA skill exam in a couple of weeks in Miami, Florida. I have couple of questions:
1) For those that has taken the CNA skills exam, once you pick one of the skills card, do you supposed to follow the order the is written on the card? or you do the order that is best for the patient?
2) What is the # of skills they give you in (Florida) CNA skills test and under how many minutes you supposed to complete them? What skills did you had?
3) Will the evaluator tell you if you have 5 or so minutes left before the time is up?
Thank you everyone! I just wanted to be prepared:)
Yes! It goes by order. AT least where I live. I hope someone from Florida answer your questions.
Make sure to practice on Indirect care, infection control, and safety! that's so important. Also, practice ALL skills. I wouldn't practice catheter care at all, but.. should just in case. :) Here are the common ones: RAnge of motion, pulse/resp, dressing, and transferring. There might be more.. :) But I think these are very common!
