Jnette--That is cool that they paid for your schooling! What a deal!

Cargal--we have company provided cell phones but we can use them for personal calls as well if we kick in an extra 5 bucks a month, but this does not include any long distance.

I haven't oriented yet but the cell phone thing was right at the top of my list of questions for the interview. But I did not have to ask as they volunteered that the company reimburses you. I also asked about travel pay and milage. (I worked home health as a CNA so I kind of new to ask about this) My company reimburses 36 cents per mile and does not give travel pay. On call is $5 and hour and IF you are called you get time and a half and are guarenteed at least 2 hours work. Per deim and regulars all take call.

We only get $2.00 on call, and time and 1/2 if we go out. Per diem and part timers are not required to take call- sigh.

Hubby works for a rural hospice and they get 1.00 per hour on call and then hourly pay for all hours out including drive, patient care and documentation time for that.

congrats!!!!

I think hospice is the best I did 3 months with a hospice nurse while in school. I want to do hospice nursing once i gain more maturity as a nurse!!!!

Cargal I am sorry but most hospices especially, non profits pay for your cell. The company hubby runs, hospice, buy the phones and give them to the nurses. Your being employed by a cheapskate. Sorry.

Best of luck to you.... If yuo have the time would you please tell me about your experience orienting etc..... this is an area I'm considering persuing. Anyone????
