Hi, Suzanne4,
I read so many posts from you and as an international nurse, I am deeply appreciate your help.
I am an senior BSN RN student in USA and will graduate in this May. I am on H4 visa and I have already start looking for a job. However, some people say that if you are an international nurse, it is better to look for a job until you pass NCLEX. You will have more chance than while you are stilll a student. So, should I wait until I get my RN license then?
Also, do you know any nurse recruitment agency I can contact in NC?
thank you,

At the moment you will struggle to change your status and work. Retrogression has been ongoing since Oct 06 and currently you can not file and adjust status. Not sure if your spouse employer has filed GC but really looking at a few years wait

You can't work on H4 status - how were you planning to get a job? There are no visas available, so you won't be able to work for the time being.

Unfortunately for you, it is going to be exactly as the posters above me have stated. You are not going to be able to get hired and get a visa at this time. If you would have at least been under the F-1 status before the beginning of this semester, then you may have qualified for the OPT. But as an H-4 student, there is not going to be any way to get this done.
The US has been under a retrogression for more than two years already, and then dependent upon your country of birth; things could take even longer for some such as China and India due to the number of applicants that are already waiting.
There is no agency that is going to be able to do anything since they do not issue visas and we do not have any available. Sad thing for you is why the international advisor at your school did not tell you about any of this.
How long have you already been in the US? The H1-B visa is only valid for three years and then may be renewed only one time, chances are it will expire before you can possibly do anything towards getting a visa to work here.
And thank you for the lovely note.
