Hello everyone,
I am new to the site and am hoping I can get some help. I am finishing school in October here in San Diego and will be relocating to Oahu in November. I would really appreciate any and all advise to make my transition as smooth as possible. I don't even really know where to begin right now, so any information you can provide would be appreciated. For instance, how, when, and where I can register to take the NCLEX, what is the average waiting time before you take your boards in Oahu, how often the NCLEX is offered there, what can I expect to pay. Also, what are the best options in review courses. I am aware there are online reviews, but are there actually physical review courses and would I be eligible for them and how and where can I get further information on these types of matters? I know this is a lot to ask, but I really would like to have all of my bases covered and would like to get crackin so that all my ducks are in a row when the time comes. Again, I truly appreciate any feedback.
Sincerely,
Natalie

NCLEX is actually a national exam, so it is not specific to Oahu. The exam is administered by Pearson-Vue and can be taken anywhere that they have a center. You can actually take it in CA for licensure in Hawaii, and that is what would be recommended for you to do.
You will need to apply for Licensure by Examination to the Hawai Board of Nursing and get your credentials accepted in order to be able to sit for the exam.
I highly recommend that you take and pass the exam before your move, you will be too nervous when you first arrive to concentrate on taking the exam. So it is the best to get that done fist where you have your friends, family, and familiar things.
Good luck to you.
Thanks for responding. I actually have my family there in Oahu and have to move by November for personal reasons which is why I am trying to get as much info before hand as possible.
Thanks again for your response.
