well i received my first c in nursing school last night, and you know what i'm not upset i'm just thanking god that i passed with my 78 percent ! out of the day and evening class 2 people got a's, 10 people got b's, 16 people got c's ( we dont if they are below or beneath 75 but anything between 70-74 is failing), and there were 13 d's.
i did try my best however ob is like a whole different language to me and i realize that my previous study habits may not work for this class. so i'm going to definitely make some changes. i'm happy and i can't complain. yes there is room for improvement, so i know i still have my work cut out for me. wow my first c in nursing school... still can't believe it !

I feel ya. What is the difference between the R.N with a 4.0 gpa and a R.N with a 2.0 gpa. Nothing they are both R.N's. Remember that.

I'm sorry you got a C I know how frustrating it can be when you do your best and it's not as good as you were expecting/hoping. I do want to commend you on taking it like a champ, though, because I can guarantee that if 16 people in my class got C's, they would all be whining and complaining and blaming the professor and saying the grading wasn't fair and the prof didn't teach them and the book was confusing ...blah, blah, blah, ANYTHING but taking personal responsibility for their performance. With your attitude, you will take this as a learning experience instead of a chance to complain and you will be a better nurse for it! Bravo!

I feel for you. I spent all day yesterday trying to pick myself off the floor. I was written up on the third care plan I have ever done. My new clinical rotation indicates that if you prepare a care plan and need to revise it, if the revision is not satisfactory, you fail the course. Instead of failing me they decided it was best to review the care plan, do some extra care plans and then put me on probation. Well one more and I'm out. I was so upset. I have received nothing less than a B in any course. I'm always the first one there and one of the last ones to leave and I work my butt off. Individuals who usually get written up in clinicals have passed the wrong med, gave it to the wrong person, failed to show up for clinicals or didn't complete work on time. I felt like a failure because I have never been written up for anything. The best thing to do is move past it and concentrate on what I can change. Good luck. Your positive attitude helps.

I saw the title of your post and I didn't know what to think. A lot of people would be really distraught about receiving a "C" on a nursing exam. However, where I'm going to school right now most of my fellow students have a phrase: "C means Continue." To most of us, a C is just as good as an A and its enough to celebrate. I'm sure grading on tests is different for each school, but in my school a 70 is passing and I'm ok if I get a 76.7 (like I did on my first test!) Because it means that my school has decided that anything above a 70 means that I'm good enough to be a nurse. Its not an excellent grade, but I don't believe that tests reflect your nursing skills and knowledge perfectly anyway. Its nice to see another student with an optimistic point of view about passing.

you did okay !! you made it through another class !! i know a c can be devastating, but you passed and it's okay !! you just get that RN after your name and a c will never cross your mind again!!
Thanks everyone ! I promised my self that I would never be the kind of student to get distraught over passing with a C. I go to school and work Full time and I do the best that I can. Yes I'm use to A's and B's however C does mean that I can continue ! We have two more exams and I think I'll be able to pull it off and pass this OB class.

I think you have the right attitude about this situation. I don't have any C's so far, but I hope that when I do I will handle it as gracefully as you did. Good luck with the rest of the semester!
