I am planning to move my family from upstate NY to NW Ohio, my mom & sister live in Wauseon & I would like to be near them. I am not sure what is involved with getting my Rn license in Oh. I am also interested in availability of jobs in that area. I have been working in home care for 6 years in NY. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Michelle
There are RN jobs available go to this website and see for youself http://my.clevelandclinic.org/careers/default.aspx
Wauseon is total boonieville; I used to live in that area of the state, and there just isn't a lot around there. You're going to have to resign yourself to the likelihood of driving a fair distance to work.
I'd suggest looking at job ads in the Toledo Blade, the Bowling Green Sentinel, and/or the Defiance Crescent News. The Fulton County Expositor is awful and is published all of two times a week, so it's utterly useless.
Good luck with your move!
My part of Ohio is boonieville too, so I say that in affectionate mockery. We're in the same boat in my current section of Ohio; my husband drives 30 miles one way to his job and if we stay here I'll probably be driving about 40 one way to the city where mine will likely be when I graduate. Oh well, it's a beautiful area and the drive is pretty soothing except during the winter.
The job market is pretty tough in most of Ohio, though, so be warned....It seems like it's starting to revive a little, and healthcare jobs in general have been a minor bright spot over the past year, but things are still fairly ugly around here.
