O M G, I am soooo happy right now! Out of 585 applications, my name came up in the first 100, which means I should get into Spring 2014 at CCSF (they pick 50 for fall; 50 for spring). Nothing's set in stone until I get the official letter, but I'm still going to celebrate!!!
My comment never got posted last night. But anyways, thanks for the heads up on the pharmacology class. Do you guys know when we're gonna get tested on the drug calculation? For the medical terminology, I have jan 21 for the first batch. I wish they have the dates printed for us so none of us is second guessing.
Thanks for the info about Pharm! I've been so preoccupied with all the background stuff and studying that I hadn't printed out my class schedule.
Also, I received my scrubs yesterday :-) which was the only good part of my day because I had to put my beloved chihuahua to sleep yesterday :-(

Awwww I have fur babies too, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hey so have you guys finished the assigned reading for Potter & Perry? I'm wondering if we will have tests/quizzes on that, or would it be for the midterm/final?
And does anyone have insight on how the tests will be formatted? Short answer, multiple choice, etc? I'm assuming that maybe it's just like the sample problems she gave us during orientation, but I've taken plenty of classes where instructors like to throw curve balls!
Also, remember they said to sign the form in the Nursing Handbook? Did you guys do that already? Do we just bring it the first day of class?
And the only handbook available online was the 2012 version, I am assuming that's still current for us. Is that right? :/
I have one more chapter left in the P&P. As far as I know they didnt mention any quizzes or test the first week but you never know. I am sure they will inform us the first day.
For the medterm I remember them saying that it will be formatted in a Fill-In version so you should know both the defintion and the med term both ways. I am thinking the math will be formatted like the example questions she gave us 20 of them.
I brought my signed handbook form the week they closed before winter break. I used the one online and the one they gave us in our packet which we picked up. You are suppose to have turned it in to the department before first day of class I believe.
Hm, okay, thanks.
I already signed and turned in the one in the packet they gave us, it was the uniform/dress code agreement. The one at the end of the handbook is a form stating you have indeed received the CCSF RN manual. Yeah you're right. I just noticed on the checklist they gave us it says "due by the first day of class".
By the way, I looked up reviews for our pharm instructor, and now I'm a little bit worried!
I wish I knew someone who has gone thru these classes already. Do you guys know anyone?

Yes, that is what my understanding is. I am just going to go by the schedule they gave us.
I have skills (50L) on Mondays at 7 AM, then pharm (50A) on at 2:10 PM.
And fundamentals (50) on Tuesdays at 8:10 AM.
Hey did she say if our medical terminology test will be ONLY on the list she gave us? And it doesn't include the abbreviations, right? I remember her implying that a test including the abbreviations would come later. Is it just me or was that orientation sort of disorganized?
