I was picked in the lottery!!!

Published

O M G, I am soooo happy right now! Out of 585 applications, my name came up in the first 100, which means I should get into Spring 2014 at CCSF (they pick 50 for fall; 50 for spring). Nothing's set in stone until I get the official letter, but I'm still going to celebrate!!!

Just checked my web4 and they changed my registration status to today and also re did the schedule for the nursing classes.. just FYI

Thanks for the heads up!they changed my registration date too! I'll pick up my packet tmrw around 8-8:30

Nice! Yeah I signed up for nurse 50 tues,w,th

50L Monday 7-1030

50A Monday 210-415

Whoever might be in my classes Feel free to message me! look forward to meeting you all at orientation :)

I looked up my reg date and they changed it again to today at 2pm. @volleygrl89, I couldn't sign up for Nurs50.

I have the same schedule as you btw.

Yes! This is really happening!!

Why couldn't you sign up for nurse 50?

There's only 1 section for 50, isn't there? Does it conflict with another class you have, maybe?

I signed up for:

50: Tue 8:10-11 AM

50A: Mon 2:10-4:15 PM

50L: Mon 7-10:30 AM

Yay! Same schedules! :) :) :)

Anyone else?

I picked up my packet earlier today and I told the lady that I couldn't sign up for 50. She told me that she'll contact admissions so I can sign up.

Oh FYI: after reading the packet, we need to get tdap if you haven't gotten the vacc after 2005, then you're going to need one. There's a national shortage for this vaccine, so hopefully you guys can call your doctor or pharmacy to reserve it.

Got my packet today! Very exciting!

I also just tried signing up for 50 and it says "major restriction."

Got my packet! Whoa, lots of things to do now.

Thankfully, I have all my immunizations covered. But looks like I need to do a physical exam (just did one this Summer, but packet says it must be within 3 months of first day).

I also still need to do CPR.

Does anyone have advice on where to buy "white nurse shoes" and the stethescope?

What size bandage scissors do we need? O_O

5 1/2" or 7"?

Does it matter?

Whats the difference between the clogs and the nurses shoes? Everytime I goggle it they all look the same ! lol

"White nurse shoes" pretty much means white, closed-toe, flat-soled shoes... slip-on or laces... You can pop for some Danskos or just go with a pair of generic "tennies" or "sneakers." Clogs are often frowned upon (the difference is whether they have enclose the back of your foot... some facilities frown on clogs so I'd go with shoes. Slip-on are preferred IMO since there are no laces to get contaminated with blood, pee, poop, vomit, etc. I'd also suggest spraying them with ScotchGard or some other sealant.

Stethoscope: Check Amazon, check Allheart, and just do a Google search. A billion different opinions regarding stethoscopes... my personal one is 'don't go high-end right out of the gate.'

Bandage scissors: Go with 5-in scissors... easier to carry around with you.

I also suggest a pair of kelly clamps/hemostats... a pair as in two devices... invaluable if you have IV tubing whose junction you can't get apart.

Congratulations to all of you... you're in for a wild ride.
