I passed NCLEX 2nd try 2014

Published

Okay, so I realize that everyone reading this is probably looking for some miracle advice on how to pass this test. Thats what I did! but the truth is, there is not any.. I want to first say, if your reading this and you have failed the first time. DO NOT GIVE UP! Also.. DO NOT spend hours reading on allnurses trying to figure out the secrets to passing this exam :)

The first time I took NCLEX, I took the Hurst Review. I knew it like the back of my hand. Hurst is WONDERFUL, totally recommend it btw... There is NO reason I should have failed the first time.. My biggest downfall was that i did not fully BELIEVE that I would walk out of that room having passed that test. I set myself up to fail... BUT, I believe everything happens for a reason. God is always in control!:)) ... At that time I had too much on my plate, I was getting married the next month, I was working, and with all of this going on, also I had a perfect job lined up and waiting for me. No pressure right?! :)

Needless to say, I failed the first time with 75 questions. WHAT!? thats cray! People usually PASS with 75 questions! .. but it happened.. and yes, i lost my perfect job! I was highly disappointed in myself, but I knew that the only thing I could do was pick myself back up, StUDY again, and conquer the big bad NCLEX!

So, for the next 45 days.. I DRILLED Hurst in my head AGAIN over and over.. I did all questions from PDA (priority delegation and assignment) and I took the 5 week NCSBN course (Only answered the questions though)-- content was too long! And I PRAYED like crazy!!

Exactly 45 days later, I took NCLEX again. On the way to the testing center I prayed over and over again for peace, and calmness.. I get SO NErVY, I'm a big nail biter and worry wart about EVERYthiNG :[ ... anyway,, this time I walked in feeling CALM and mustered up every last ounce of confidence in my body.. and just started answering questions... at 74 I was like "Oh crap" please don't shut off yet!! .. and it didn't... Kept going ALL the way to good old number 265... -__-

So 6 hours later.. I left the testing center feeling HORRIBLE.. You will never leave thinking "Oh wow, that went really well!" Unless your spiderman or ninja turtle or something.... but I got home and did the "PVT" and got the good pop-up. And found out 2 days later that I did in fact pass. :)

What I really want to say is, never give up and always BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. You can and you will get past this test and it WILL be okay.. I know your probably like well yea, you passed already, you can say that! BUT I have been there and if anyone has anything they want to ask.. anything, feel free to message me! :D

Most of what I have read says people usually pass in 75 or fail in 265... My story is different, so don't ever worry about the number of questions you get! Just know that you got through nursing school, this is just the next hurdle you have to pass to get to your dream of being an RN ! :D God is always in control.. When in doubt, pray.. I believe he was with me every step of the way!

Good luck to everyone taking boards ! I wish you all the best :))

Congrats! Way to keep your head up! Way to go nurse!

Congratulations

What state are you in? I'm wondering how long I will need to wait before retesting...actually how long the BRN will take to process my application....

I am in Texas, here the wait time is 45 days. I received my att before that but I had to wait until the 45 day mark to retest. I paid the fees again and re-registered within the first week after I failed.

That is an awesome turn around time. Im hoping I sit again by July!!! Congrats on passing!!!

Congratulations

Thanks everyone! and good luck Cali2014 I am sure you will do great!

I understand what you are saying . I just gotten my results I was a little confused at first. I had a lot near passing level but you have to have all above level

to pass the nclex-pn . I was so upset at first I thought I knew everything but I didn't know enough to pass. Now I have to pay my fees and get ready to retake the test. My studying for the second time is only questions and stop listening to everybody about how easy it is ..
