I just finished taking the CARN exam and am happy to say "I passed!" Oh, and I start my new job as a DON at a drug and alcohol treatment facility Nov 3. I can't believe it. I feel like I have to pinch myself to be sure I am not dreaming.

Yes, make sure whatever certification you spend your time and money on allows you to bill for your services. In my area the CARN doesn't allow that and at our facility you would have to have the CADC. I'm in psych and many of my RNs are being encouraged by the facility to take the psych certification but it does not do anything for them. It does however give the hospital bragging rights on their nurses being certified I guess.

for those who took the exam, were you results immediate? i received a sheet saying to wait till the end of the testing period for results - i think this might be an indication i didn't pass - oh the suspense!!!!!!
