I pass the NCLEX-PN!!!

Published

This is my story:

I am very excited to say I passed the NCLEX-PN exam! I walked out of the testing center KNOWING I failed. I just knew I did. After leaving the building, I walked to my car, and tried the PVT (little inpatient, I know)! Much to my surprise my status already said delivery successful. Well, I got the "good pop up!" That's when I told myself, ok I will be the first this does not work for. So, as soon as I got home (30 minutes later), I went on the Board of Nursing. My name was next to Licensed Practical Nurse!!! I am now just waiting for my license number! Wow! This trick really does work! I didn't even have to pay for the quick results!

This all seems too good to be true. I took my exam Friday and I start my new job Monday as a Nurse Grad. Now I can start under LPN status and not Nurse Grad status! I feel so lucky!

I took Kaplan:

I have read many post on hear that stated Kaplan was harder than the NCLEX. I felt NCLEX was waaaaaay harder than Kaplan; but felt Kaplan was pretty comparable. Kaplan definitely prepared me to answer more difficult questions. I studied for 3 weeks prior to the exam. I did 100% of my qbanks and watched Kaplan videos on my weakest areas. My total qbank score was a 50%. I averged my qbank score for my last week and ended up with 55%. This isn't too bad since I started off getting 30's and 40's.

For anyone preparing for the NCLEX PN or RN, I wish you the best of luck!

Hi! Sorry, it wouldn't let me message you back since I haven't posted enough : / so hopefully you'll get this...

I received my LPN through them so for me it would have only taken a year. They do trimesters, you basically go year round with a 6 week break in summer, so the LPN to BSN would be 3 trimesters. If you're transferring into there from another program it's probably going to take quite a while to complete the program. I have my BS in Psychology from UMUC and I was still there for almost 2 years before starting the LPN program, taking prerequisite courses that they require that other colleges don't, plus I had to retake all of my sciences which didn't help. So, the actual program is only a year but the total time all depends on what prereq's you're gonna need. I've been out for 2 years and didn't go through their BSN so I don't remember exactly what the course requirements are for entrance into the BSN.

As far as transferring afterwards, you mean to an MSN program? I don't see why not. Some of the credits may not be accepted and you may have to take that college's required course, but they should still accept the BSN overall.

Are you looking into the Baltimore campus? I went to Cambridge/Salisbury. The program was extremely disorganized so get used to emailing and calling with no response. It was really frustrating and one of the reasons I chose to get out after my LPN, but with the BSN program 2 years old now maybe things have improved. Had I stayed, I would have been in the 1st BSN graduating class and I wasn't comfortable with that as far as accredidation goes. They had to have so many successful graduating classes before they could become an accredited program. *******was the director of the program when I was there and I would always email or call her directly if I had an issue and she was normally pretty good at responding. Have you tried her (if she's still there)?
