I received a job offer for a staff nurse position at the top hospital in my city, in the Women's Health unit! I have always wanted to work OB, I am thrilled to join the specialty!!!
I graduate in two weeks, so I still have to take the test. They want me to come in as a tech for two months while I am waiting to take the NCLEX. I am so so so thrilled!!
I did mother/baby right after graduation for a few months and then had a choice to stay or go to PACU training. I went to PACU because alot of my school friends and other nurses think postpardem is a fluffy job and maternity nurses aren't real nurses. I fully regreted that decision. Good laid back job. Same pay. Cattyness tho when ur in that dept.

Not sure where it is that you work but where I am L&D (my spot), nursery, and PP aren't "fluff". I don't see how a 29 weeker found unresponsive after having an eclampic seizure and now a brain bleed is laid back. I guess it has to do with your facility.
To the OP, CONGRATS!!!!!

" took two extra clinical semesters doing preceptorships in L&D through a separate nursing program "
How did you do that?
