I need reassurance, or reality check?

  1. Do you fear rejection from a university?

    • No, I have top notch education and healthcare experience.
    • No, because I know people who have worse applications than mine, and still got accepted.
    • Maybe, but I know eventually a spot will open up.
    • Yes, because my GPA is under 3.0
    • Yes, because I did terrible in a few classes in college!

I do great in all my pre-req's. Except one semester I failed 3 courses =0

Because I was a freshman and thought that dropping my classes meant not showing up

Oops =( I cried, and then I took the classes over and got 2 B's and an A

I have a perfect GPA 4.0

But there's one more thing, I dropped out of high school and got a GED

I've been a Patient Care Tech for a few years.

Do you think that my application would be competitive when applying to a university?

Think UIC, Loyola, Chicago State?

Or do you think that since everyone and their momma is considering nursing, I don't stand a chance?

Please give me advice.

ABOUT THE GPA ISSUE

In my original college, I failed those classes, then retook them, got 2 Bs and an A.

I began a different college after that, because I moved, and they didn't factor in my previous gpa, only the gpa I acquired while attending THAT school was valid there.

Everyone has gotten so concerned! lol Thanks, though. I didn't realize I should've elaborated on that detail.

And yes, I've heard that all classes you ever took anywhere EVER is transferred to a university.

And that's why I'm so nervous :'(

Your GED won't matter. I would try to figure out what your cumulative GPA from all classes you ever took is. The NS will probably do one of two things.

1. Take your overall cumulative GPA from ALL college transcripts. Do what you can to make sure every class from here on out is nothing below a B and you want as many A's as possible.

2. The NS will only look at your prereq GPA

I wouldn't stress about being accepted. Just do as well as you can and never stop trying. Also, try to keep your mindset at yes you are getting accepted. Prepare your heart for the worst, have a back up plan for another school, but think of that as a safety net.

Just remember, don't stress and always be grateful for everything you have going for you.

Good luck!! You got this!
