You can write about the nursing shortage. That has been a huge issue off and on for years.

You can read through the posts here and find tons of ideas. Should nurses wear white? Should the housekeeper and everyone else be in scrubs? Violent patients (or doctors) that the hospital doesn't want you to file charges against. Should nurses be required to feed pts family (like ordering trays for them). Does the ER really need to provide meals to anyone not in medical need for food (like diabetics with low bs). Abuse of the ER for things like medicine refills or hangnails. Underpaid nurses, forced overtime and bad patient ratios. Then of course the nursing shortage.

the nursing shortage is probably what I'd write about. You can find lots of stats and articles on that topic to refer to.

Coco, Several people have suggested you write about the "Nursing Shortage" - just wanted to add another opinion about this topic. The problem is not caused by a shortage of qualifed people that want to enter the Nursing Profession, the "Real Problem" is - there are not enough Nursing Schools and Nursing Instructors. This would be a great topic for you to write about.

I'm attending a small community college in the South and each year there are over 400 people that apply to the Nursing Program, but they only have room for 40 new students per year. So, even though there are many very qualified people applying, out of hundreds, only 40 get in. I know it's the same way around the Country and I was told that part of the problem is there are not enough Nursing Instructors to go around (so there is a great need in the teaching area of Nursing). I've read that many hospitals are recruiting Nurses from other Countries because our Nursing Schools are not putting out enough new grads to fill their needs. My State certainly has enough money to build more Nursing Schools - which would allow more people to pursue a career in Nursing and fill many of the open positions, but instead they spend zillions building state of the art prisons - it makes no sense to me, but of course that's the Government for ya.

Coco~

All great ideas.....have you come up with anything yet?:)
