I plan to relocate to Las Vegas soon. Can anybody tell me how long will it take to process a license by endorsement and does Las Vegas issue a temporary license to practice for a RN? I would appreciate your input/s with regards to this matter.

Call the Nevada State Board of Nursing; the thing that takes the longest (up to 4 months) is the fingerprint process. Do that ASAP! You can send for the fingerprint packet ahead of time, and have it done at a police station near you and start the process. ...I would call them for all the details..they are very helpful and friendly on the phone. You can also email them, and they respond promptly.
Thanks for the info. I recently received a packet of RN licensure by endorsement from NSBN but one of my concerns is about the CGFNS certificate which is one of their requirements and which I do not have. I am a permanent alien resident of Hawaii and want to relocate to Nevada. I kept searching the web trying to find out which states do not require CGFNS and I found out that Nevada is one of them but in the packet they sent me, NSBN requires CGFNS certificate. I am confused! Please advise! Thanks again!
Since August 2003 CGFNS-CES has been required in NV... I only know about it because my last semester of school a group presented about nursing graduates of foreign schools. I would call them...The nursing job market is good here, and it may be worth the hassle of the application/testing process. Everything is on their website, also. http://www.nursingboard.state.nv.us/
I just don't understand why CGFNS is so important when I am a NCLEX passer, and in fact have been working here for 4 years now. As far as I know CGFNS is required for foreign Nurses who wanted to come to US because they will not be given the visa screening if they do not have CGFNS cert. What about those foreign graduates who were already here? Do they have to go through the process of obtaining the TOEFL/IELTS and CGFNS certificate? Do you have any info about this? Thanks again!

They require the CES Certificate, not the exam. At least that is the way that it has been in the past.
That is the way I understand it too....just the CES...
Need more info about CES. What is CES? Where and how do I obtain it?
I appreciate your inputs a lot. But I need more info about CES. Thanks!
All I know about the CES is that it is where they evaluate your transcripts, instead of having you get the certification. The board tells you whether you need this or not, when you apply. "Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CFGNS) Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) Report to determine equivalency of course work. "
Check out the CFGNS website, thats what I suggest...or call the nevada state board of nursing...or just apply, and they will tell you what you need.
Hope that helps

I think for these types of questions, you should just call the Nevada State Board of Nursing. It is really not that difficult. I will even give you the telephone number: 1-888-590-6726. It's a toll free call.
If you look at the website, it states that they will let you know if you need the CES report, chances are that you do not since you will be endorsing, and not going for initial licensure. You need to contact them anyhow just for the application packet, it is not available on-line.
CGFNS exam with Certificate is completely different from the CES, which is simply a credentials verification. When you got initially licensed in the US, where were you licensed at?
