I will be graduating in May 2007. What advice can you give to me as I step foot into the ever changing world of nursing? Thank you

ditto to the above poster.

Also, make sure you overlook us "first year" nurses who have troubles in the beginning. It does get better....it slowly is getting better for me. I still have my "days", but all in all, it is getting better. You will learn as you go, learn as you grow. Good luck and keep positive.

Apply for jobs NOW! I could kick myself for not looking sooner! If u can find a UAP or an externship all the more better!

Congrats & Good Luck!

Also keep in mind that the real world isn't like the book, don't be too hard on yourself & take your time off to relax. All my best to you! :wink2:

If, once you get out there, you find yourself completely stressed out and hating what you do, just keep on looking. The exact right place with all the right people is waiting for you, you just have to look for it. Don't give up looking for it... sometimes it takes a while.

Don't take yourself too serious. I am 2 months in and I am finally relaxing a bit. You are going to make little mistakes everyday, in the beginning your assessments are going to take a very long time and you will still forget something. Don't beat yourself up over it, nursing has a huge learning curve. Acutally, it doesn't feel like a curve at all, it feels like I am scaling a vertical wall. I am finally finding footholds and handholds in the wall I am climbing and feeling more confident and better at my job every day.

Despite feeling incompetent at times, I have always loved my job, and getting a big paycheck is an awesome feeling.
