I need some advice on Nursing Recruiters

Nurses General Nursing

Hey everybody

I'm a Canadian, who has recently graduated and I am looking into relocating to the United States. I was wondering if anyone out there knows anything about nursing recruiters and how good are they. Probably my first concern would be choosing one. What do you look for in a good nurse recruiting company? and what aspects of the job search and relocation are they involved in? I recently went to a job fair in London, Ontario (where I'm from) and there were so many recruiters to choose from. Also what have been other peoples experiences with using nurse rectuiting agencies. Any help anybody can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Just my opinion here, but I would look for a recruiter who has experience in dealing with Canadians coming to the US. There are a lot of recruiters out there, who have worked in the business sector, and have little or no knowledge about nursing.

Personally I would look for a recruiter who was also a nurse. You need to have someone who can actually give you info that is pertinent the position you're interested in, and not just about the bonuses or how much the pay is.

You also need a recruiter you can be honest, and up front with. If you feel you need x amount of dollars to relocate, and make x amount of money, the recruiter should be willing to negotiate, to help you get the best deal possible. One who is only looking out for the employers, and low balling you, isn't going to be looking out for your interests.

I find that most independent recruiters, or recruiters who work for hospitals, are not the best in helping you get the best deal. They both serve the employer more than the employee. There are nursing agencies, that also assist you to find perm positions, and this is who I would look to for help. Just MO from my experience. I know a great recruiter if you're interested PM me.

Most recruiters want you to have two years of work experience before they will accept you.

Specializes in Acute Medicine/ Palliative.

In the very recent experience of one of my good friends, they do not really require ANY experience at this time. They just need nurses so badly. The fairs are pretty safe, from what I have found. Good luck and hope it is all you imagine it to be!
