Hi guys, I haven't posted in awhile but that doesn't mean I don't read at least once a week. The reason why I'm posting is this...I've got a problem at work. I graduated a little over a year ago. Got a 'verbal warning' a few months ago about some 'minor' issues (not being strong enough in my enthusiasm for a bath for my pts, some charting errors, not helping others like I should, not really having the whole picture when giving report), I was told I would be followed up with if there were any problems in the meantime while I waited for my 3 month 'checkup' from this problem. I tried to follow the plan of action that my nurse manager and I planned and about 3 weeks ago, I got my follow up. This time it was a written warning because (I still am not helping others as much as I should
Advise please!!
Give her a break oh please....there are plenty of other nurses who read a newspaper/store ad on the job,do homework or chill on a PC,she explained that during night time!
It's not the posters in this thread that aren't giving her a break; it's her bosses. The posters are just saying she needs to stay off the computer for her own good.
My hospital can actually track what websites everyone is logged in. This is not a myth, it has been proven. Can yours do that? Two wrongs dont make a right anyway, so be the example and stop. I suggest starting a log of what you are doing at all times, including how you utilize your downtime. I actually have done this before when I was a tech to support some things that I was trying to present....long story short I think it may benefit you.
I think they really want you gone, and I am sorry about that, but if they want you gone, they will probably find a way, whether you deserve it or not. I would try to get another job lined up. Be honest to your director about the reasons behind your leaving. Don't burn your bridges, thank her for the time you have spent there, that you don't want to leave on a bad note, but that x,y, and z was happening and it was not working for you. I hope you do not have a lot of time invested there. Just be careful, because she may end up speaking with a future employer, so try to leave on a good note. Sounds difficult at this point, though :-( My former employer could only say yes or no that she would or would not rehire, hospital policy. If that is similar you your employer, hopefully you can at least stay on her good side so that she would want to rehire you.
good luck and sorry for your dilemma

She complained about her work situation online in this very public forum while at work. Just because all the other nurses play on the 'net doesn't make it right, especially when all eyes are on her and she knows it and ESPECIALLY when complaining about the work situation.
