1 patient at a time.

You're focused on one patient at a time. Great team players. If its a rude obnoxious patient, they're knocked out. I don't have to call doctors in the middle of night for orders or questions and get yelled at. 95% I get a lunch break and potty break.

Specializes in Pediatric and Adult OR.

Pretty much the same as above.

I love being an OR nurse because I get to focus on one patient at the time. I get normal working hours. I work with a great team and we laugh together a lot. We play music while we're working. I always get a 40 minute lunch break without having to worry about my patients, and sometimes even a breakfast break, too. I get to be a comfort and an advocate for a patient when they are typically the most frightened. But I don't have to be stuck for 12 hours, 3 days straight, with obnoxious, energy-consuming patients. No call lights. No taking back a food tray or being called in to raise a HOB 1 inch or rushing to get assessments and med passes done. I get a unique set of a skills. I am constantly learning. I feel a sense of pride when I tell people I am an Operating Room Nurse.

Specializes in O.R., Endoscopy, PACU,Pulmonary Stepdown.

I love it because it's 1 pt at a time, no call bells, you get to see human organs!! :)
