hello from idaho, i have been a nurse for 9 years and am considering moving back east to maine where my husband grew up. i have been located in idaho for the past 15 years but i am considering a new change. could u please tell me not only how your job satisfaction is working in maine at the hospitals but also the patient ratios and the salary. i recently visited maine with my husband and besides the cold winters i think maine has among the most beautiful landscapes and clean air. well let me know that would be great. thanks

what part are you moving to? nursing jobs are plentiful, so i don't think you'll have a hard time finding one. you might want to check out the hospital websites to check out their job listings. http://salary.com/home/layoutscripts/homl_display.asp gives a fair idea of the wage for rn's here; it seems to be pretty good in comparison to the rest of the country the country. good luck!

If you are looking for staff positions, you shouldn't have any trouble. If you are looking for NP, CNS, instructor positions the well is pretty dry around here and I wouldn't recommend it. Salaries aren't bad but the cost of living in York and Cumberland counties is outrageous, as is any area along the coast.

i have lived in the bucksport area for the past four years and i have found it a very mixed bag of pros and cons. it really depends on where you settle. the pay is terrible. the work environment is usually very good - tight crew- very caring. little to no room for advancement, new skills. the landscape is gorgeous and i drive around all the time astonished, exhillorated, and totally in love with the view. wait until you see a fall. the air quality is terrible. maine has the highest incident of adult onset asthma and childhood asthma. patient ratios also aren't usually bad with some exceptions. last bad news the winters are very, very long. spring, summer and fall are absolutely perfect. but the other ten months will kill ya, ha,ha.

good luck, c senecal rn
