And that's a good thing, 'cos I is one.
I started my new med/surg job a week ago. No one is being mean, everyone is helpful, and aside from the inevitable socially inept person who comes off like a jerk because she can't help it, they're compassionate and caring. Ad even she cares, she just comes off badly.
:)
Sounds like you've found a nitch sasquatch.
I've changed jobs or facilities a few times and having a good group of people to work with can really make things easier to deal with. Whenever I meet someone socially and find out they're a nurse too it's like an instant "Hey I get you" type thing.
I'm also glad to hear someone is treating our "newbies" well.

I could have written this post.
And pagandeva, I am learning SO much just in the week I've been here. All of the lytes and cardiac values and stuff that I had almost forgotten in the past year of banging out meds - although these med/surg nurses need help with one thing. It never occurs to them to crush meds for the demented Parkinsonian sweet little old man who can't swallow well anymore. We WILL be acquiring a "Silent Knight" for the med room. I'll be dipped if I'm gonna deal with a mortar and pestle!
I'm just thrilled that life has taken me here, and youse guys here on allnurses, thanks for the friendship and support when there's no one else who "gets" it.
