Well, I handed in my resignation today. I had to. I was tired of staying for meetings that had nothing to do with me, I don't teach, I'm there for Boo Boos and Asthma and bumps. That's not to say I have a problem helping out, when a teachers late and someone needs to be in the classroom or when something needs to be run to a classroom, but going to these meetings and not knowing when they are going to be done...an hour, hour and a half, maybe 2 hours. Throw in the SGO's that no one seems to understand for us. I liked the kiddios, even the parents...for the most part, but I can't just leave my daughter at her high school until I can get her 2 or 3 hours after classes are over. I just couldn't do it any longer. Professional development for us is learning how to run the Health Office more effectively, safer, smarter, not critiquing lesson plans. I know that there are going to be parents and kiddios that are going to be sad that I'm leaving. I hope they tell the board and the principal. :sniff:

Oh wow. I'm so sorry. We don't have to do the staff meetings or sgo's or anything like that in my district and that I'm thankful for. But my principals are not my bosses either. There's 30 of us nurses and we report to the health services coordinator who is a nurse too and she's amazingly awesome and always supportive and advocates for us like no other.

it's really a shame that you're district can't figure out that things that aren't relevant to your job shouldn't be loaded on to you. It's even worse that they are keeping you guys 2-3 hours AFTER your contracted end time. Your soon to be former union really should be addressing this - unless you guys are getting compensated somehow...

I am sorry that you couldn't make the position in that district work out.

We don't have a union. I'm not a big union person, but I do recognize they have a place...IF they advocate for their members in the correct way. (My MIL's did not, he fell asleep during one of her meetings.) Now I need to decide if I want to go back to school to get my cert. I have an emergency cert right now. My aunt told me to think about why did I take this job...be I needed the money, to help out, to keep busy? I didn't do it for the money, I did it because I had a skill that they needed. Hubby said it would keep me out of trouble. So I guess I need to decide if going back to school for my cert is worth it. I liked what I was doing, although I did feel lost...a lot. But WHY did I feel lost? Is it because I hadn't gone to school? Or because I'm not the best organizer? So, What does everyone think?
