Hi ALL!!!, it took me a while to actually sign up for this website but I just wanted to see if there are any other ADN SPRING/2009 applicants for mount saint marys program. I had my interview like a week and a half ago and I think it went well but they said it was going to take until around december 12th to hear any news. Ive heard from some people that if you get a interview its a very very very good sign (like youre in already) ad ive heard from other people that they dont take everyone!! does anyone know??? I just wanted to chat with other people who are as nervous, anxious, and worried as I am. As far was questions go does anyone know how strict they are when it comes to their pre-requistes? I have a critical thinking class but its not a philiosophy-critical thinking so im not sure if their going to take it. Also they say they want a elective in art, music, history, or literature. I have "religions of the world" and other basic general education classes, but im not sure if they meet that requirement or not, i have a associate degree in general studies so I better be ok!!! hehehe, if anyone wants to chat or help me out I would greatly appreciate it THANKS!!!!

:spnngwlcm: Have you applied to any other programs? Sounds good if you made it to the interview. Hope you get in.

Hi ASR!!

I received my acceptance letter to MSMC yesterday for Spring 09/ADN!!...but I was confused because I was accepted to the basic option even though all my pre-reqs will be done Dec 15..and I looked at the articulation agreement and all my classes match up (even the Phil- Critcal thinking class) so I'm unsure as to why they are admitting me to the Basic Option..kinda stinks..regardless..if they can't offer me direct admittance into the nursing program, I don't know if it's even a good idea to go to MSMC....Why sit at such an expensive school and let them make money off of you, while they keep telling you to take such and such class ...Go figure?? Have you talked to the about your scenario? Also, where are you commuting from? Also, I'm a Veteran too and I was wondering if you were gonna use your GI BILL? Did you have an interview? I never had one so I was wondering what's up..anyway, sorry I asked like a million question...PLEASE get back to me as soon as you can!!

Hi luckygrl I got my acceptance letter today

Candidates for this option must have completed the general studies requirements

HI ASR!!

OK totally confused by MSMC..I called them and let them know that come December 15, both Micro and Philosophy of Logic will be complete and that is the last two classes I needed before finishing ALL the general ed requirements..I pointed this out and they said they would get back to me by the end of the week (once they had spoken to the director of nursing)..THEN, I get this package in the mail with a Nursing T-shirt and a welcome letter to the Nursing Program..?? Even though they said that I would need to come in for an interview and they didn't know when?? Doesn't this all seem a bit backwards? I'm like, am I in or not?? Another thing is, I do have my GI Bill but I don't know if I should blow the whole thing on MSMC ADN degree or save it and go to a community college (and pocket all the GI BILL money) 8 months later...the drawback is that I would start a nursing program 8 months later than if I was accepted to MSMC, but the posative is that I would pocket the GI bill money (and considering the new GI bill, it is quite alot of cash..like 28,000) the only thing is..what if I don't get into a community college my first try in the fall 09? My grades are good and my science pre-reqs are at 3.66 with no repetitions..but you never know...What would you do?? I figure you might have a good idea..because your prior service and understand the whole GI bill..let me know quickly, if you can...As you know, I have till the 17th of December to give MSMC an answer..Thanks you in advance for your reply.

Wow well congrats!!!

Hey Luckygirl77... have you heard anything different yet? I am in the EXACT same boat! I got my acceptance letter into the prenursing even though I'm completely done with prerequisites this week... So after reading everything about this interview stuff I called the school and was asking and the girl I spoke with said that I would have to interview and that even if I went along with the prenursing thing that I would still have to interview before moving into nursing... Completely goes against everything the website states and I mentioned that and all she said was "yeah we're working on changing that... thanks for being patient" (FYI: I'm not patient... I'm very confused and upset!!!) And I also got the shirt too!!! What in the world is going on??? There is absolutely no reason to spend a year at this EXPENSIVE school... relocate... take out MASSIVE loans... just to be told the next year (when I should just move straight into nursing like I was told in the beginning) that they don't want me after an interview! Any insight on your side?

I'm totally frustrated and upset..I just spent a semester taking some dumb Phil (Logic) class that I wouldn't even need if I go to a CC, which at this point looks likely ( and 8 months behind where I could be in the nursing program if MSMC had their act together) OMG..totally upset...they also said that they were offering a 12:30pm to 4:30pm and NOW last week when I called they said "oh were doing away with that program at that time, cause not a lot of people were going at that time" I'm like WHAT?? I have an 18 month old son and I'm single and NO DAYCARE is open at night for the 4:30-9:30 program (which is the only one their offering now) Like dude, where do they get off?? Like people havent been busting their butts trying to jump threw hoops and taking all these classes just to be told "oh we don't offer that anymore" I have been crying for like 2 days now..I don't know what I'm going to do..guess just wait for a CC (luckily my GPA is great) probably should not have been wasting it on MSMC anyway..OK sorry needed to vent...I sent an email last night to the assistant director nursing and we shall see what she has to say..meanwhile I will be desperately looking for nannies that can work from 4:30 to 9:30pm 4 days a week...

Hey Luckygirl77! Sorry this took soooo long! Ok so I think I am figuring things out here. So apparently like we already know... although it would have been nice to know ahead of time:scrying:... if you still have prereqs in progress then they put you in the pre option even though we applied for the direct option. I called and after the prereqs are done... then the next step is the interview... and from there I guess they decide if they would like to offer you into the direct option. I also asked about the afternoon option and the woman I spoke with said that during the orientation on the 3rd is when the afternoon idea would be decided on. Depending on exactly how many people would like to use that option (which FYI: I would LOVE that time) then they will figure out whether or not to keep it. I also say another point on here that if you haven't taken the Ethics class yet then you would be denied and also asked about that and was assured that you ARE allowed to take that during the nursing program and that is also the only prereq that you are allowed to take during the program. So if you dont have it done yet... like myself... then you are still ok. So that rumor is FALSE... That's pretty much all I have for the moment... I guess we just need to ACE the interview! lol. And I hope when you have yours you do AMAZING.. and I wish you GOOD LUCK!!!! LOL I know I'll need it! Much love and best wishes!!:heartbeat

Dear JamesMarie,

I was wondering what happened to you...I GOT AN INTERVIEW TODAY!!! So hopefully I will see you there...I'm so happy that you need the 12:30 to 4:30 time..I will be praying that enough people, request that time frame. It has been so nerve wracking this whole process but I hope that everything begins to work out here shortly. Well thanks for being such a shoulder to cry on and who knows maybe I will see you today at the interviews!!

Good Luck!!
