I was not hired for externship!?!?

They utilize an online application process where you can check the status of your application online, check for any interview offers etc. I sent it less than a week ago. I have not even contacted the department manager to set up a possible job interview.
Anyways, what do you think Application filed, not hired 08/01/2005 means? Am I not hired? Or the application was filed, but they have not hired met yet? I'm going to give the hiring manager a call, and see what's the deal. I just wanted to post it here and see what other people's take on that is.

It's possible they have no more openings.

animaniacs, don't freak yet! it could mean exactly that. just like you have an automatic way to check, probably different departments have the same method. when a position opens up, they may just go to the file that shows an application filed but still open for hire.

i had applied at the hospital i know work at, at least two months before they contacted me. i even had to think back when i had last applied (i applied numerous times). when the time was right, i got called, had an interview and i'm now working in a great department.

I know this is an old post. Were you ever hired for the externship? I recently got this same response and was wondering what it meant!

I never heard from Peidmont after that. I assume it means they considered you at one point but decided not to hire. You never know though. The application is filed if they want to go back and reconsider. It is confusing.
