how would I handle this?

I work at my current job 5days/week. I just applied for a new job. If the new place calls and wants to interview me, I'm really only available certain days due to my working 5 days a week. Would I just tell the new place basically--look, I can come in this or that day? I feel like if I don't come in right after they call, they'll find someone else.

They know by your resume that you are working currently. I am sure they will take that into consideration. Good Luck on your interview! Ivanna

My boyfriend was just in this exact situation. He explained to the new job that, while he was extremely interested in interviewing with them and would love the opportunity to work for them, you are still loyal to your current employer and have to respect their needs while you are still with them. This will show them you are a loyal employee and aren't just like "Peace out!" :D

agreed. They should understand your situation. Our HR has flexible hours, including early am and late pm on certain days. They know if you dump your current employer you might eventually dump them.

I've always scheduled interviews around my current work schedule -- if the new facility asks if I can come on a particular day, and I'm working, I just explain I'm not free that day and ask what other days they have available, or suggest days that I'm free. They are v. accustomed to working with people who are currently employed.
