Woohoo! During clnicals today I got to see a delivery, I was in with mom and family from the begining and then to the c-section, and then with the baby to special care and assessed the baby, did a Ballard, etc.
Spent the entire morning with them. But also during clinical we had a code so we (the students) helped the staff with other things (vitals, trays, phones, etc.) while they handled everything else that was going on.
I'm so excited I got to see a DELIVERY!!!! AND I didn't get sick to my stomach at the surgery!!!! :rotfl: :balloons: :chuckle

I observed one C-section while in my OR rotation. My classmate almost cried, I thought she was weird. I don't get sentimental unless I know the patient personally. I'm strange like that.
My last day of OR I was allowed to scrub in for a C-section. That was fun, I was trying so hard not to touch stuff the scrub tech finally had to explain "If it's blue you can touch it." I stood next to the doctor, handed him instruments, held the bladder down with the bladder blade, was allowed to touch the uterus while he was cleaning it (strange) and got the suture needles ready. I accidentally hit the overhead light with a needle as I was trying to pull it out of the package and my face looked like this --> :uhoh21:. The scrub tech just told me to toss it and gave me another one, I thought I was in trouble but it was ok.
I have yet to see a lady partsl delivery but our OB rotation is next semester.
