Well I finally got my acceptance letter to start school in September of this year. All that stress went away and then all of a sudden the realization of all the new things to be stressed about hit me. I am working hard on my Human AP. I feel like I am not prepared enough. I am also researching and researching stethoscopes, shoes, watches, etc. I am a full blown nursing nerd :) I won a Littmann Master Classic II on ebay for $60 shipped! I was so excited. What are you guys doing to prepare and have any of you narrowed down what shoes, stethoscope, watch, etc. you want?

First off, congratulations!!! I'm sure you are excited and scared as I am. Like you, as soon as I got my letter, I started purchasing everything I thought I would possibly need. Here is my list of things that i've purchased so far:
1. all required textbooks
2. Kaplan NCLEX review book
3. Lippincott NCLEX review book
4. Fundaments Success book from Patricia Nugent
5. Prioritization, Delegation, & Assignment by Linda LaCharity
6. Required scrubs
7. Shoes!!! (I have 3 pairs - one pair from my hospital days: Dansko clogs, Allheart clogs, Timberland Pro Renova professional)
8. Stethoscope (i bought 2: WA tyco harvey elite & Littmann classic II s.e)
9. watch - cheap one from walmart but am looking into getting a clip on)
You can do research on shoes however it really all boils down to what feels good for you.
I think preparing for all of this is the fun part...I'm nervous about what I will feel in August!

Congrats! I understand where you're coming from! The relief and excitement were quickly replaced by "Oh gosh, I have a TON of stuff to do!"
I'm trying to stay organized and not freak out too much about getting it all done immediately. I took my pathophysiology final last night and still have microbiology on Thursday so I need to continue to focus on school! I do have my physical scheduled as well as my CPR class.
I already bought my scrubs but I'm still figuring out what to do about a stethoscope, shoes and watch. I'm waiting until I have some post-final time to take my time to shop around and find exactly what I want.

Congratulations! I was a panicked mess at this time last semester when I got my first acceptance letter*L* I bought my uniform (we're not supposed to call them scrubs at our school) first thing because I knew I'd have to have it altered. Got that done and out of the way. Went to 5 or 6 different stores to find comfy shoes that are all white. Our school gave us a list of supplies and I went to one store and found everything and got a student discount!
Thanks everyone!!! It's so nice knowing there are other people out there going through the same thing. I gave my first meeting on may 25 where i should get a list of needed books and supplies. The only thing I've purchased is a stethoscope. I am having a hard time with shoes. I think I'm going to buy a good pair of white new balance and then if they don't work I'll purchase something more pricey. I think I want a lapel watch but am still debating that as well! Rightnow I'm trying towork with the hubby to prepare him for the next 2 years :)
