Hello my dear friends:D
You all know me, I am the nurse who hasthe title "my interview please help, don't ignore me" , Thank you all so much for the support and encouragment. My dream job still did not call yet, but yesterday I got a call from a hospital I onterviewed in June, they did call me for 2nd interview in July, but they cancelled it saying that They gave the job to internal applicant.
Now all of the sudden I got a call yesterday, for today early morning interview. The manager was super nice, we talked like we are friends, and she just said to me, I don't need to think about it, YOU ARE HIRED!! I could nor believe it, she gave me tour and intrduce me to my coworkers. She said I can even choose any shift I like.
Oh my God, I just came over there, I signed the agreement, told me about my benefits, my salary....its just so nice to hear.I will stary Nov.2 at Telemetry unit. And I am happy for that, I was going to pay for it myself and get my ACLS to increase my chance, but now they will train me, plus I will also be trained in cardiac monitoring....They call it"speciality Training".
I am just so thankful and happy. I just wanted to share my happiness because I know a lot of you have been in this journey with me. I learn that, when God opens the door, he will open it so WIDE!! Its the best feeling ever and I wish you all to experience it soon. I will pray for all of you guys , just do not give up! Your's is on the way!!Just so you know, I am no special.I am a new grad with ADN!
Now, what do I do if my dream job called and offer me the job????????????????????????????????
Well, this hospital is one of NY's private hospitals and it took them almost 2 month to call me for the 2nd interview. Plus many of my classmates applied to same hospital with same experience and status as me , got turned away. So I doubt it if they just hiring me on the spot because they just accepting anyone. Besides, teh economy is so bad and so many nurses looking to get thier foot someplace, I am sure they are choosing and picking who to hire.
Anyway, I totally understand what you said and I respect your opinion. The truth is, God's Grace shined on me and I prayed and tried too hard. I think it was just my time.
Thanks again
P.S yeah! dream job called and I did not get it. But who cares right now????
CONGRATS aromarn! and yes, i've read the thread where it said, "my interview please help, don't ignore me." what i noticed, is that sometimes when you ask for advice especially from the working class, they tend to diss you off, and they won't really give you positive responses. and voila. who would have thought you would land a job which you thought passed you by. i'm happy for you, especially after knowing you're a foreign grad like myself. and we new RNs thought that after NCLEX would be the end of it all... but the struggling still lingers.
i hope that one of these days i too, would also be able to say, finally, an interview, ... and i got hired!!
Thank you all and bodz01---nice words. Thank you so much. Its is a nice feeling , I can't wait to start. I am just bored at home. I do not start till Nov. 2. But I am not complaining just stating facts.Did the drug test, next week I will do PPD and blood work.
Yes being foregin and nurse is hard. The good thing I went to college here in US , so it made it easier for NCLEX. Just a yesterday a friend of mine who is a nurse but from Ethiopia was asking me for advice. She was working as a nurse over there for 6 years, she said the critical questions are way different and harder. She need to take NCLEX here to get a licence. Anyway, I told her not to rush, just take her time and prepare herself.
Anyway, thanks again, The hospitals can not be on freez forever!! I wish you all the best.

i was hired "on the spot" once.
i learned a very big lesson from it too. if a facility hires you on the spot, you might want to take a step back and wonder why. is it because you made such a good impression on the interviewer....or is it because they are so desperate they will hire the first person off the street.
in my case...it was the later. the place was a hell hole.
i'm not trying to rain on your parade by any means! i just wanted to share my experience with being hired on the spot. because of it, i'm very leary of a facility that does it.
