I got accepted to my first choice school! :yeah::yeah: Over the moon with excitement but also pretty scared of the 14month accelerated BSN thats to come. I want to read up on anything nursing to start preparing. Does anyone have any advice for awesome textbooks or anything to start getting prepared that helped you? -Thanks!:)

Congrats on your acceptance!

There is no way you can really prepare ahead of time but here are some ideas. Go out and buy yourself a NCLEX study guide. I bought a Kaplan 3 months before nursing school started. It will show you how to find the best answer when there is more than one correct answer. Also, know your hormones/endocrine system really well. Like know what will happen if you get a shot of one hormone, how does that affect 2 other related hormones? Know your electrolytes and what kinds of problems you'll have with too much or too little. Blood gases..... know the normal values and understand when the body is compensating for imbalances. Hope you kept your A&P book(s) : )

Good luck !!

Congrats on getting accepted! :)

Invest in a good planner and rolling backpack. I know you are excited but really take time to enjoy your friends, family and social life because you will have no time. Medical terminology reveiw never hurts. Congrats

You can't get through nursing school without being able to critically think. I HIGHLY recommend getting both Test Success and Fundamentals Success by Nugent and Vitale. It teaches you how to successfully choose the right answer and gives techniques on how to remain calm, confident, and focused when taking a test. It includes NCLEX review questions and the answers include rationales for each option of the question. Have you ever heard of multiple-multiples? This book covers those as well.

Review all anatomy. Trust me, when you start learning about the excretion and reabsorption of drugs, you don't want to be clueless when you are reading about the importance of Bowman's capsule and the Loop of Henle.

Getting ahead on knowing your lab values, drug classifications, medical prefixes and suffixes would be a great idea. (Taber's medical dictionary is GREAT) It can becoming really overwhelming when they throw it all at you at once.

CONGRATS!
