I am struggling with the decision to fight to get into a Midwifery or NNP program. I have 26 yrs of experience. But my GPA was a 2.97. I don't even remember getting a bad grade, or what happened back then. But apparently I did. There it is on my transcript.

I have applied to 2 programs and gotten rejected because its not a 3.0. I'm so angry and so confused. I year has gone by already and the clock is ticking.

What do you guys think I should do?

I am 56, just graduated FNP Master's University of Texas Houston, with honors and inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International, nursing scholar.

1. You will have to have a GRE or MAT-if score is not the minimum you may enter on probation

2. You need to go and take a Pathophysiology couse which will prepare you for Advanced Patho. And also would be a good idea to take a statistics class, nursing statistics before you go that will raise your GPA and it will be something you need and it will prepare you fir nursing research.

3. Most graduate schools require a 3.0 but I think UT dropped theirs.

I got my BSN from UT in 2002 at 42 after 11 yrs an LPN, now I am a Doctor of Nurse Practice Student, so go for it you are not too old,

Specializes in PACU.

I would contact the schools admissions that you applied too. When I decided to go back for my RN, I was denied admission to school because of a low GPA 25 years prior (as a fine arts major).

I contacted admissions and explained I was young and didn't know how to prioritize, but since then I had gone back and received my LPN and worked at the bedside, in management & administration roles successfully over the last 23 years. That I had learned time management, and how to apply myself. He gave me some advice and long story short.....

I was able to write a letter, attach references and get in. The first semester I was on probation, but after getting a 4.0, I was quickly taken off probation and the old gpa was a thing of the past.

Good Luck!!
