how do I get a social security number

Hi I would like to endorse my licence from nevada to texas/california but i always get stuck at the social security section. i have no social security number. how do we get this if we don't have any work or immigrant visa's to the USA?

Until in the US with a valid work or immigrant visa you can't apply for a US SSN

The only way to get a SSN:

born in the USA

legal permanent resident of the USA (green card)

become a US citizen

valid work visa.

No other way and the SSA will not issue a SSN for you to get a professional license.

Talk to Social Security. Go to their office. Or an immigration attorney.

I think you're asking how to endorse your license instead of how to obtain an ssn... a good place start would be the bon website you want to endorse to. But personally i would call instead. Lots of people have obtained texas licensure without SSNs, not sure about california though.

CA requires a US SSN before they accept any applications even when endorsing
