i have been getting warnings from my mother since about 1 year before my birthday about not accepting credit cards. lucky for her no one will give me one, my boyfriend says i cant get one because i have too many creditors checking my credit. is this true? what ever happpend to just giving students credit cards to ruin their lives. i turned 18 in june2002 and the only approvals i get are from secured companies, where i can set my own limit. gut if i had the money i wouldnt need a credit card. can anyone offer any advice? or an explanation

Oh my, my , little one! I just want to cover your head and protect you from those nasty people that offer you cc....they all have horns on their heads you know! The only reason they offer so many cc to students is because they KNOW they are poor and have no money and almost have to resort to the cc. Then when they get out of school they have a 30 - 40,000 cc debt that they cannot get out of.

I myself have fell into the trap in the beginning of nursing school, a two year program, and I am now in mylast semester and 20,000 dollars in debt. I am scared to walk to the mailbox and cry when i pay my bills. My miminum payment on my cc is around $200, and you should pay double your mimimum but of course you cant while your in school. DO NOT GET A CC AND FALL IN THE TRAP!!! These things are as bad as cigarettes!

You buy one little thing here, another little thing there, and say "Oh, its only $20, I can charge it." Then you get your bill and realize you charged about 40 $20 things and you cant pay it off. Please just listen to us and pay with cash, you have no idea how much better youll be in the long run.

Can't get a credit card? Lucky you. My father paid cash for EVERYTHING. If he didn't have it ... we didn't get it. We lived very well, bless the man, and my Mum con't to live very well. you don't need credit at your age. And Capitol One is the WORST! Read your fine print. If you are a scillisecond late with your payment.....your 9.9% becomes 25% just that fast.

The credit fairies are looking out after you dear, don't fly in their face. Pay cash.

My grandfather paid cash for his house (this is something I find absolutely amazing).

My dad paid cash for every single vehicle he ever owned. My Mum tells the story about Dad trying to rent a car one time. They wouldn't let him, because he didn't have a credit card. After a long discussion he finally said @#$%%^&&**( i'LL BUY the @#$%^&*( CAR!!!! They let him have it.

I think you've finally gotten it right, credit cards are evil! If you don't have the money for something, than you must not really need it. Or...when they are really run up high,,,do like I did. Divorce the guy and he has to pay them off! lol Yea, they were all in his name. Needless to say I went on a shopping spree before the big 'D'.. Aren't I terrible? (nah....) :chuckle
