how do I get accepted???

Hi everyone! I am seeking acceptance into a nursing program. I have applied to Villanova and UMDNJ, and unfortunately was not accepted at either. A little background info- I have a bachelor's degree in a liberal arts field with a cumulative gpa of 2.82, and I have also taken several science courses at my community college with a gpa of 3.5. I feel as though my options are limited. Does anyone have any guidance on programs that might offer me acceptance or alternate ways in which I can achieve a degree in nursing? Thanks for your help!

    Take some more undergrad courses and ace them to get your GPA up and demonstrate your willingness to do whatever it takes. And widen your search for a program. Be willing to relocate.

    Please make sure your options are accredited. If they tell you they're accredited by the BON ... they're deceiving you. You need to make sure they're accredited by the accrediting bodies. Especially if you want to advance your education.

    I only mention this because I know several who applied to those unaccredited schools because they'd accept them with low GPAs.

    You may consider an ADN/ASN program. Many of them are based on lottery systems, where as long as you qualify, you'll be in the pool with everyone else that qualifies. If you apply to as many as you'd consider attending, you'll really increase your chances of getting into a program. You can do a bridge program later if you want a BSN.

    Otherwise, you can do what GrnTea suggested, just make sure that you take transferable courses. Otherwise you're wasting your time and money.

    I emailed the dean of the program, and I spoke to many advisers. I was well known with my science professors as well. Your GPA for nursing should be at least a 3.5 in my opinion in prerequisites. A good Teas-V helps too. Upper 70's and 80's. It's a hard program to get into, because it's a hard program to complete.
