Ok, here's my situation... I graduated from nursing school in June of 2004. Started working in a small ED. I found out I was pregnant in December. I planned on taking boards in November but I became really sick & had no idea what could be wrong. Well I found out that I was pregnant in December. I didn't mention this was NOT a bad thing. I was thrilled, my husband was thrilled. Well it has not been an easy pregnancy, I was in the hospital several times for hyperemesis & dehydration. To make a long story short I put off boards as long as I could. I took them in April & obviously failed, I'm not using being pregnant & sick as an excuse but I kind of am. Ok, my due date is June 15th (friday) I decided after the baby I will retake them.... I just need words of advice, I really plan on studying while I'm on maternity leave but I really would appreciate any advice or suggestions on how I should go about studying.... I guess I'm just nervous & feel like a great big loser.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!
First of all, don't feel like a loser. I had two of my kids during school, one at beginning of prerequisites and one after 3rd semester and nursed them both until 16-18 months (plus I have an older one) and I worked part time, That said, I just had a few weeks of nausea, I didn't have hyperemesis!
My question is why did you take so long to take boards? You graduated in June 2004, why didn't you take boards right away? I graduated Dec 17th 2004 and took my boards Jan 18th 2005. I read it's better to take them right away, the pass rate is better because things are fresh in your mind.

We have several girls in my graduating class right now that are between 3-4 months pregnant. They asked the same question- should they tell their future employers? When the leadership/management seminar was held, they were advised to tell the employer only AFTER an offer had been made for employment. That doesn't mean you may make a different decision, but in reality, employers have no right to ask you about a pregnant state, and you are under no obligation to tell them. However, it was suggested that it would be professional of them to advise their employer of their situation after the offer was made.
HTH!
You can search for new posts by looking at a users profile info. I just checked; she did pass the boards and is now working as an RN.
I will try to post a link to the thread but I am not sure how it's done so here goes. https://allnurses.com/forums/f18/pregnant-new-grad-ed-164094-2.html#post1720945She posted halfway down on the second page of the thread.
Congrats Martibear!

I used saunders comprehensive review book for the nclex rn. It truly helped me, it gives quick reviews of diseases and asks tons of questions and comes with a cd that has thousands of questions, it would be really helpful especially since you've been out of school for a while.
