Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi everyone,

I am a new LVN and have currently been working at my job for a couple of months now. I had five days of training which I told them I needed more training, the scheduler told me that he “believed in me” so I was forced onto the floor in my opinion due to short staffing. Very high turn over rate at this job.

So ive been written up 8 times in the month of November, sometimes twice in one day sometimes two days in a row. I explained to the supervisor that I was never taught this and I should not be written up for something that I was never taught. She preceded to write me up..

I was also written up for calling out of work when I caught a flu and had an excused doctor note the supervisor said that it would be easy to replace me if I don’t want to work there”.

I am very frustrated because I didn’t come this far to not love what I am so passionate about. I’ve been yelled at by the director of nursing for asking for help. I feel like I am being targeted.

Who should I talk to about this? What should I do?

Please help me and thank you so much.

I was a job that was horrible. They had me overloaded on the night shift. Alot of feeding tunes insulin injections. And lots of other stuff that has to be done before patient got out of bed. I had to start that early morning med pass about 4:30 to be thru by 7 am, for day nurse to have the cart . Apparently something got missed and I can't remember now what it was . So they didn't even put me on the new schedule , and didn't even come to talk to me about it . So I left and I never went back . Maybe I was wrong but I was sick of being so over loaded and the nurse on the other end had half to what I had. So I just didn't go back . They took me off the schedule , so okay then. I already had part of my retirement income coming in anyway so I had money comig in . It's been long time ago now .. I never went back over there and don't intend to .it was a horrible place to work anyway . They td me I had to clean the little kitchenette. And I never went in there and messed any thing up I didn't drink coffee and leave uneaten donuts all over the cabinet . It was all I could do to get finished with the cart by 7 to let day nurse have it , so we could count . I didn't have time to clean up after other people .I'm so glad I'm away from there.

I was in the same situation and it was so wrong of them to write me up as a new nurse for something I hadn’t been taught there! This is an issue that I went through, and actually I’m in a bigger issue now on my second year of nursing and I’m so innocent to this treatment but it is very unfair... see my page posting about what’s going on now! Haha seems like a joke and if it’s not life sucks.

You may not know specifics,  but you, as a professional nurse, are responsible to know policy and procedure of every action you perform at every facility you perform at. Remember this going forward
