i was looking to be a psych nurse. first semester: so close to passing, but i couldn't manage prioritizing. i re-took nursing 1 and managed to pass because i focused on prioritizing. i moved on to second semester which was med-surg and psych. i enjoyed the psych part a lot and decided i wanted to be a psych nurse instead of aiming for crna from there.

now with nursing 2, my grades have just hung around the border line (75 and above is passing). i talked to my professors about how to improve my grade, but they didn't help. i had to figure out my own mistakes. med surg had 2 tests and psych had 2 tests and then there was the final. i realized that on med surg i focused on what the disease was, not the so much on nursing care on the second test. during the 2nd psych test, i didn't pace myself during the test and that had brought me down. now on the final, i failed by 0.7 points. i felt like ****. still do. i'm not out of the program. i gave a **** about clinicals unlike some of my other classmates. i didn't cheat like some of them did. i looked at the test today, i did very well on the psych portion, but got a 74.7 on the med surg. i was ******. i got outstanding reviews on my clinical evaluations, but clinicals were either pass or fail.

now my problem is looking for a nursing program that would take me. i was thinking about an lpn route then getting back into a rn program.

what would you suggest? any advice?

also, sorry for the inappropriate language.

You will probably have a hard time finding a program to accept you at this point so I would go the LPN route, then progress from LPN to RN. You said in one sentence that you were not out of the program. Can you return? That might be your better option if possible. Best wishes.

I am sorry you are going through this. It must be hard. I am curious....you said you like psych bu then stated you wanted CRNA....Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. So I am just a little confused.

Are you out of the program or just have to return at a late date. Maybe LPN will help. But they are both going to require a tom of studying.... have you thought of a tutor?? I wish you luck!

Don't give up you can do it! Maybe if you go the LPN route when you do decide to return for your RN it will be easier..Good Luck!

Hi Esme! I think she was trying to say at first she wanted to be a CRNA then after Psych she decided she liked that better. I was confused too until I re-read it. :)

I'm sorry you are struggling. Try to find out what you were doing wrong, try to fix those things and try again.

Good luck! :)

I might do the LPN route, but what oppurtunities are there for LPN's? I heard hospitals were trying to phase them out.

I intended to be a CRNA, but then Psych nursing captured my interest.

I might do that, thank you for your support.

Also, good luck in nursing school!
